Making practice lessons with your agent

Ask your agent for practice questions and it makes you a short lesson, marked as you go.

Written by Kat Morgan

Got a test coming up, or a topic that keeps tripping you up? Ask your agent for practice and it makes you a short lesson of questions, marked as you go, then goes over how you did.

Your agent appears only if your school has turned it on. If you cannot see Agent in the sidebar, ask your teacher.

Asking for one

Open Agent and ask for what you want, for example:

  • "Make me a quiz on equivalent fractions."

  • "Practice questions for my test on Friday on balanced forces."

  • "A revision set on the water cycle."

Your agent may ask a few quick questions first, one at a time and no more than four: the topic, what it is for, what you want to be able to do, and what trips you up. Where it can, it offers answers as buttons you can tap. Say "just make it" if you would rather skip the questions. Then it tells you in one line what it is making and makes it.

At the end of a review, saying Yes, make me some to more practice skips the questions, because your agent already knows what you have just worked on. See Going over a returned lesson with your agent.

It only makes a lesson when you ask for one. It keeps it short (about 10 to 15 minutes), with no images, videos or links. If you want it based on how you did in class ("practice on what I got wrong in my last test"), say so, and it looks at your results first.

The lesson card

The lesson appears in the chat as a card, under Made your lesson. Its button changes as you go:

  • Start practice, with how many questions there are.

  • Resume, with how many you have answered and a progress bar.

  • Review, once you have finished.

Doing the practice

  • It opens on its own page, with its name at the top. Click the X at the top right to go back to the chat. Your answers are saved, so Resume picks up where you stopped.

  • Each answer is marked as you go, so you see how you did straight away.

  • When you are done, click Finish practice. You are asked "Ready to finish? We'll head back to your chat to go over how you did." Once you finish, your answers are locked.

After you finish

You land back in the chat that made the lesson, with "I've finished … How did I do?" already sent. Your agent then goes over it with you, the same way it goes over a returned lesson.

Where to find it again

Practice lessons live in the chat that made them. They are not on Home, in your classrooms or in your grades, so come back to that chat to carry on. If you delete the chat, the card goes with it.

Practice lessons are just for you. Your teacher does not see or mark them, and they do not count towards your grades.

Wanting something different

A practice lesson cannot be changed once it is made. Ask for something different (harder, shorter, another topic) and your agent makes a new lesson. The old card stays in the chat.

Good to know

  • Practice lessons work on the Mindjoy website, in a typed chat. They are not available in Voice Mode or in the phone app yet.

  • They are made in the New editor, like the lessons your teacher sets.
