This guide explains how to connect Mindjoy to your LMS using LTI 1.3. In this example we're using Brightspace (D2L), but the process is similar for most compatible LMSs. The process involves three steps: creating the tool in your LMS, registering it in Mindjoy, and creating a deployment.

Prerequisites

  • Administrator access to your Brightspace instance

  • Admin access to your Mindjoy organization

Step 1: Create the Tool

1. In Brightspace, navigate to Admin Tools > Manage Extensibility > LTI Advantage > Register Tool

2. Select Standard Registration and enter the following Mindjoy configuration values:

3. Enable the following extensions (if they appear):

  • Deep Linking

4. Enable sending of your institution's role

5. Save the tool. Brightspace will generate configuration values you'll need for the next step.

Step 2: Register the LTI Platform in Mindjoy

1. In Mindjoy, go to Organization Settings > Integrations > LTI Integration

2. Click Connect LTI Platform and enter the values from Brightspace

3. Save the registration.

Step 3: Create a Deployment in Brightspace

1. Return to the tool you created in Brightspace

2. Click View Deployments > New Deployment

3. Configure the deployment:

  • Name: Mindjoy

  • Open as external resource: We generally recommend opening as an external resource, however Mindjoy will work in an iframe too.

  • Security Settings: Please enable the following:

    • User Information

      • Name

        • First Name

        • Middle Name

        • Last Name

      • Email

      • User ID

      • Org defined ID

  • Make available to: Select the org units or courses where Mindjoy should be available

4. Save the deployment and copy the Deployment ID

5. Return to Mindjoy's LTI settings and add the Deployment ID to your registration

Step 4: Create a link

1. Navigate to Your deployment > New link

2. Configure your link:

  • URL: this should be the same as the launch URL

  • Type: Mindjoy currently supports:

    • Basic launch links - a simple launch via iframe or URL

    • Deep linking quick link - link directly to Mindjoy content via either iframe or URL

3. Save your link

Testing the Connection

1. Navigate to a course in Brightspace where the deployment is available

2. Add a new External Learning Tool activity, or select a Deep Link you set up previously

3. Click the link / view the content

4. You should be redirected to Mindjoy
