This guide explains how to connect Mindjoy to your LMS using LTI 1.3. In this example we're using Blackboard Learn, but the process is similar for most compatible LMSs. The setup process involves three steps: creating the tool in your LMS, registering it in Mindjoy, and creating a deployment.

Prerequisites

  • Administrator access to your Blackboard Learn instance

  • Admin access to your Mindjoy organization

Step 1: Register the Tool

1. In Blackboard Learn, navigate to Admin > Integrations > LTI Tool Providers > Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool

2. Enter Mindjoy's unique Client ID and click submit. This will auto-populate the LTI tool information.

  • Mindjoy's Client ID: 3fe9e699-4b33-44c0-b99a-01d34c601925

3. Update the tool information as needed. Make sure your Institution Policies have the following enabled:

  • Tool status (unless you're still in the testing phase)

    • Ensure this is "Approved"

  • User fields to send should all be checked

    • "Role in course" should be checked

    • "Name" should be checked

    • "Email address" should be checked

Important: failure to send the correct user fields may result in integration issues.

4. Click submit to save the tool.

Step 2: Register the deployment

1. Select the tool and navigate to Manage Deployments > Create Deployment

  • Blackboard does have a default deployment ID, however we recommend creating a specific deployment.

  • If you do create a new deployment, make sure to connect it to the relevant courses

2. Configure the deployment and click submit

3. Make sure to connect the deployment to the relevant courses

4. Take note of the deployment ID, you'll need that for the next step

Step 3: Register the LTI Platform in Mindjoy

1. In Mindjoy, go to Organization Settings > Integrations > LTI Integration

2. Click Connect and enter the following values:

Field

Value

Issuer

Client ID

3fe9e699-4b33-44c0-b99a-01d34c601925

Keyset URL

OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint

OAuth2 Access Token URL

Deployment ID

Your deployment ID from the step above

3. Save the registration

Step 4: Testing the Connection

1. Navigate to a course in Blackboard where the deployment is available

2. Add content and select Content Market

3. If everything is configured correctly, you should see Mindjoy's placements show up

4. Select one of the options and test that you're able to launch Mindjoy as a tool

Feel free to reach out to [email protected] if you're having trouble getting set up.
