You can build lessons first and organise them into pathways later, which suits planning a unit before you know its final shape.

Create lessons in My Library with Create, then Lesson. A lesson that is not in a pathway is a standalone lesson, and works exactly the same.

When the structure is clear, create the pathway and use Add Existing to pull the lessons in. Nothing is duplicated and nothing is lost.
