If the auto-marking is being too generous or too harsh, fix the mark scheme and re-mark. It is a few clicks rather than adjusting hundreds of submissions by hand.
Work out what is wrong first
Open a marked answer and read the Marking breakdown. Each criterion shows whether it was awarded and quotes the phrase that earned it, which usually tells you whether the scheme is too loose or too tight.
Change the mark scheme
Open the lesson from My Library, click into the question and edit its Mark Scheme. Adjust the marks allocated too if you need to. Save.
Then re-mark
Open the classroom, go to Assignments, click the assignment and then the lesson. A banner offers Re-mark affected questions. Check what is listed and confirm.
Re-marking runs in the background and takes a few minutes for a big class.
What counts as a change
Changing the marks allocated to a question.
Changing which option is correct, or the correct pairs or order.
Changing the mark scheme on a long answer.
Editing wording alone does not flag anything, so you can fix a typo without prompting a re-mark for the whole class.
