Report Incorrect Marking

Report AI marking errors for review to improve algorithms if updating the mark scheme doesn't solve the issue.

Written by Kat Morgan

If you think that the AI has made a mistake in marking a question, and you can't solve it by updating the mark scheme, then please report it to us so that we can take an in-depth look and improve our marking algorithms.

1. From the question that you believe to be incorrectly marked, click Edit.

2. Click "Report Incorrect Marking"

3. Click the "What should the correct mark be?" field.

4. Explain why you think the marking was incorrect.

5. Click "Submit Feedback"

6. Click "Close"

Seeing why the AI marked it that way

When you open a student's long answer in the responses drawer, there is a Marking reasoning section under the feedback. Expand it to see how the marker arrived at the score, which usually makes it obvious whether the answer was misread or the mark scheme needs tightening.

This is for you, not the student. They see their feedback as usual, never the reasoning.

When automarking has not produced a mark

Occasionally a long answer comes back without a mark, usually because something in the attachment could not be read. You are no longer stuck: the mark and feedback fields are there for you to fill in yourself.

Setting a mark by hand clears the earlier error and counts the submission as marked, so it behaves exactly like any other marked answer from then on.
