This article covers the Legacy editor. Lessons built in the New editor work differently. To add and remove blocks in the New editor, see Inserting content with the slash and plus menus. New to the difference between the two? Start with The new lesson experience.
Lessons are made up of blocks. Each block is a section of content or an interactive element that students work through.
Available block types
The following block types are available when building lessons:
Content - Text, images, and formatting for explanations and instructions
Multiple Choice - Single-answer questions with auto-marking
Free Response - Open-ended text answers, optionally auto-marked against a mark scheme
True/False - Simple true or false questions with auto-marking
Match - Pair matching questions where students connect terms with definitions
Resequence - Drag-and-drop ordering questions where students arrange items in the correct sequence
Reflection - Open-ended prompts for student reflection (not marked)
Video - Embedded video content
