You can create hand-drawn images and share them directly in tutor and agent chat conversations. This is useful for sketching diagrams, working through math problems, illustrating scientific concepts, or showing your work visually.

Opening the drawing canvas

1. In a tutor or agent chat conversation, click the pencil icon in the composer toolbar

2. A menu appears with two options:

  • Draw on Computer - Opens the drawing canvas in your browser

  • Draw on Phone - Opens a drawing canvas on your mobile device via QR code

3. Click Draw on Computer to open the canvas

Drawing tools

The drawing canvas has a toolbar at the top with the following tools:

Drawing canvas with pen, eraser, and pan tools, undo/redo, and clear button

  • Pen - Draw freehand lines (selected by default)

  • Eraser - Remove parts of your drawing by clicking on strokes

  • Pan (hand icon) - Move around the canvas without drawing

  • Undo / Redo - Step backwards or forwards through your drawing actions

  • Clear (trash icon) - Remove everything from the canvas and start fresh

Sending your drawing

When you are finished, click Add Drawing. The drawing is converted to an image and attached to your message. You can add text to accompany the drawing before sending it.

The tutor or agent can see and analyse your drawing, so you can ask questions about what you have drawn or request feedback on your work.

Tips

  • Draw large and clearly so the AI can interpret your work accurately

  • Add a text message explaining what you have drawn for the best response

  • The drawing canvas is available in tutor chat, the student agent, and the educator agent

  • On mobile, the drawing canvas includes additional color and stroke width options
