The Student Activity view lets educators see how students are engaging with their tutor assignments. You can view individual conversation threads, message counts, and learning status indicators for each student.

Accessing student activity

1. Navigate to a classroom and click the Tutors tab.

2. Click on a tutor assignment to open it.

3. Click the Student Activity tab (or the activity icon).

You will see a table of enrolled students with their engagement data.

What you can see

For each student, the activity view shows:

  • Thread count - How many separate conversations the student has had with the tutor

  • Message count - Total messages sent across all threads

  • Learning status - An AI-assessed indicator of how the student is progressing (e.g., exploring, struggling, making progress)

  • Sentiment - The overall tone of the student's interactions (positive, neutral, negative)

  • Moderation events - A bell icon appears next to students who have triggered content moderation, so you can review flagged interactions

Viewing individual threads

Click on a student's name to see their individual conversation threads. You can read through the full message history for each thread. Moderated messages are highlighted with a red background and show the moderation category.

How students access tutors

The student home page showing assigned tutors and classrooms

Students access their assigned tutors from their home page or through their classroom. Each tutor assignment shows as a card they can click to open a chat.

Students can have multiple conversation threads with the same tutor, organised by topic. The thread history sidebar on desktop (or the History button on mobile) lets them switch between conversations.

Generating tutor insights

When you close a tutor assignment, Mindjoy generates detailed per-student insights. These include a breakdown of questions asked, topics covered, misconceptions identified, and personalised recommendations. Access these from the Insights tab on the tutor assignment.
