Enabling resubmission lets a student open a submitted lesson again and change their answers, which is how you give someone a second attempt.
Enabling it
Open the classroom from the sidebar, go to Assignments, click the assignment and then the lesson.
Tick the students who need another go, then click Enable resubmission.
Their lesson reopens. Anything already marked stays until they submit again, and their new answers are marked as normal.
