The order of lessons in a pathway is the order students work through them, which matters if the pathway is set to sequential.

Open the pathway and go to the Overview tab. Each lesson row has a drag handle on the left.

Drag it up or down, and the other lessons move aside to make room.

If the pathway is set to Sequential, students must finish each lesson before the next unlocks, so the order is the route. On Flexible it is just the order they are listed in. See Sequential and Flexible lesson ordering.
