Adding a Select All Correct Question

Written by Kat Morgan
Updated today

The Select All Correct block is a question type where students must identify all correct answers from a list of options. Unlike multiple choice (where only one answer is correct), Select All Correct requires students to select every correct option and no incorrect ones.

Adding a Select All Correct block

1. In the lesson editor, click Add block

2. In the block picker, scroll down to the Questions section and click Select All Correct

Setting up the question

The block editor has three sections:

Question

Type your question in the rich text editor. You can use formatting (bold, italic, lists, code, images, math) to make the question clear.

Mark allocation

Set how many marks this question is worth using the counter. The default is 1. Students either receive full marks (all correct options selected, no incorrect ones) or zero marks.

Options

Each option has:

  • Option Text - The answer text the student will see

  • Correct - A checkbox to mark whether this option is a correct answer

You start with two blank options. To add more, click Add option below the table. You can reorder options by dragging the handle on the left of each row. To remove an option, click the three-dot menu on the right and select Remove.

You must have at least two options, and at least one must be marked as correct.

3. When you are finished, click Save

How grading works

Select All Correct uses all-or-nothing grading. The student receives full marks only if they select exactly all the correct options with no extra or missing selections. If any incorrect option is selected or any correct option is missed, the score is zero.

How students see it

Students see the question text and a list of options with checkboxes. They can select as many options as they want, then click Submit.

If the lesson uses instant feedback, students immediately see which options they got right (green), wrong (red), or missed (amber) after submitting.
